Walter "Wally" Kloess

Butternut Walter E. “Wally” Kloess of Butternut, entered into eternal life on August 1, 2015 at the age of 93 at his home surrounded by his loving family, from congestive heart failure. For the prior week Wally received excellent care and attention from the wonderful staff at Flambeau Home Health and Hospice. Wally was born on May 7, 1922 in Cicero, IL. He was the son of Jacob and Christina Kloess. His early life was spent in Cicero and then the family moved to Chicago. He attended grade school at Holy Cross and then Holden Grade School. He graduated from high school from Gage Park High. He spent his early life after his graduation working at various places in the parts department. While on a fishing trip to northern Wisconsin he met his wife Millie, and on June 11, 1955 they were married at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Butternut. After moving to Wisconsin he was employed in various places before his long time employment at Steiger Motors in Park Falls. After retiring from Steiger's he joined the family at MacGregor Litho, Inc. After working at his place of employment, Wally would come home to the family resort, Joe Miller's Cottages, on the Turtle Flambeau Flowage and work long hours keeping up with the resort chores. Wally also was active in his church serving as financial secretary, Sunday School teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, and as an Elder. He also was treasurer of the Turtle Flambeau Flowage Association for 30 years and did an outstanding job of always balancing the books to the penny. Wally will be dearly missed by his (2)daughters: Carla Kloess of Butternut Carol (Joe, more than a son-in-law) Zilinger of Butternut Donald Westphal, who called him “Pa” of Park Falls His sister-in-law: Marion Kloess of Chicago, IL granddaughter JoNell Zillinger great-grandson: Trey Wreth and special nephews: Carl “Buddy” Hornberg of Scandia, MN Godson Allan Kloess of Grand Prairie, TX Jeff Tank of Butternut Joey Tank of St. Germain Gary Tank of Eagle River Gary Kloess of Elk Grove, IL and many other nephews and nieces, and many loving friends who are our extended family. Entering eternal life before Wally were his loving wife Millie, his parents, and all ten of his sisters and brothers: Lydia Hornberg, Arthur, Herbert, Reinhold, Margaret Lion, infant Elsie, Alfred, Leonard, Robert, and Elsie Tomek. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday August 4 at 11:00am from St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Butternut. Rev. John A. Deitz will officiate. Burial will follow at Butternut Union Cemetery in Butternut. A visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 10:00am until the hour of the service.
