Ruth Marie Netzel

Ruth Marie Netzel Age 90, died on August 12, 2020 at Marshfield Medical Center in Minocqua. She was born on May 5, 1930, the daughter of Emil and Harriet (Parker) Lemke. Ruth attended the Wirsing country school and Kaiser School. She married and had five children. In the 1960’s she gardened and canned up to 250 quarts per year to feed her family. She was a hard working mother who would pick and sell nightcrawlers, princess pine or pine cones to make ends meet. She also worked at St. Croix for many years. She was highly patriotic & often politically opinionated. She would get excited over the Packers. And she was fiercely independent. When she wasn't working on jigsaw puzzles she would be reading a book. In the 80's she bought a new bicycle, then cross country skis, and then it was two horses which she rode for "pony polo" Her favorite hobby though was gardening and flowers. Often enjoying looking at what other plants or flowers other people had in their gardens. She belonged to the St Paul's Lutheran Church of Butternut. She is survived by (5)children: Dave (Shirley) of Winnipeg, Manitoba Jack (Bonnie) of Wakefield, MI Diane (Rob) Brandt of Butternut Peter (Deb) of Billings, MT Lisa Norman of Chippewa Falls (14)grandchildren: Tom, Kristina, Sheila, Tracy, Jack Jr., Anthony, James, Jeremy, Alison, Melissa, Robert III, Sarah, Delaine, and Noah (13)great-grandchildren: Ben, Jacob, Moorea, Levi, Jace, Alara, Joseph, Matthew, Grace, Emma, Joshua Robert, Gladys, and Samuel. (1)great-great-grandson Thomas Her sister Carol Radlinger and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Emil Jr., Lester, Robert, and Melvin, sisters Marian and Virginia, and grandson Joshua Lee Brandt. A memorial service will be held Birch Street Funeral Service Chapel in Park Falls on Saturday September 12, 2020 at 11:00am. Rev. John Deitz will officiate. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday September 12 from 10:30am until the hour of the service. Interment will take place at a later date at Nola Cemetery in Park Falls.
