Martin G. "Marty" Stelter

Park Falls (veteran) Martin G. “Marty” Stelter age 79, of Park Falls died on Tuesday April 21, 2015 at his home. He was born on March 24, 1936 in Milwaukee, the son of Martin B. and Myrtle (Fierke) Stelter. His early life and schooling were in Milwaukee. He then attended Mahtomedi High School in Mahtomedi, MN, where he graduated. After his schooling he entered the United States Army. After serving his country he attended the University of River Falls. He married Marlys Alberg. The family resided in Pewaukee, where Marty worked for Lutheran Children Friends Society. Marty and Marlys later divorced and he married Marge Kalvin, who preceded him in death. The couple owned and operated Eagle Point Resort on Butternut Lake until retirement. Marty also did part time work for Northway Motor Lodge and Flambeau Lanes in Park Falls. He married Robin Kolar-Tilkens on June 23, 2010. So now Marty takes his new seat in the house of the Lord, surrounded by family and friends previously called, and no doubt telling stories of the way it used to be, and the way it ought to be. He will be watching over all of us, and he taught us much and he taught us well, so we know he would want us to be good to others, strive for success, lead a life of faith, and keep hope alive. And lastly, we are comforted knowing that if we need him, he will call us. He is survived by: His wife Robin Kolar-Tilkens-Stelter (8)children: Connie (Tom) Teeters Bob (Erin) Stelter Mike Stelter Marty Stelter Jr. Mike (Kay) Kalvin Tricia (Rick) Krueger Andrew Kalvin, Mary (Eric) Kuntz (18)grandchildren, (3)great-grandchildren (2)brothers: Tim (Pat) Stelter Tom (Gloria) Nelson (1)sister: Judy (Don) Meline (1)sister-in-law: Lolly Stelter and his best friend Murphy. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Marge and his brother Scott Stelter. Funeral services will be held on Saturday May 9, 2015 at 3:00pm from Peace Lutheran Church in Park Falls. Rev. Bob Pfiel will officiate. Military rites will follow under the auspices of the Park Falls American Legion and VFW Posts. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday from 2:00pm until the hour of the service at the church.
