Jerome "Jerry, Jugger" Scherwinski

(veteran) Jerome (Jerry, Jugger) Emil Scherwinski Age 79, of Butternut, went to meet his Savior under the guidance of Pastor Deitz, surrounded by his family and comforting care provider on Sunday October 20, 2019 at his home. He was born on January 1, 1940 in Agenda, the son of Emil and Clara (Hamann) Scherwinski. After graduating from the Butternut High School, Jerry entered the United States Navy and served from 1957 until 1960. On March 3, 1962 he married Melvina Nelson at Trinity Lutheran Church in Glidden. He worked for a time at St. Croix Fishing Rod Company before working for the Flambeau Paper Mill in the finishing room for 35 years. He was a member and an active leader in St.Paul’s Lutheran Church and served as a past Sergeant At Arms with the Butternut American Legion Post 272. Jerry enjoyed spending time creating memories and sharing countless activities with his loving family. He is survived by: His wife Vina of Butternut (4)children: Shari (Jim) Brennan of Neenah Greg (Lisa) Scherwinski of Butternut Cindi (Randy) Zoesch of Park Falls Cathi (Shawn) Tyynismaa of Chippewa Falls (11)grandchildren: James (Christine), Terrence (Aubrey), Nick (Nicole), Bryan (MaKayla), Alexander (Melissa), Nikki (Chad), Andy (Katy), Kelsi (Alex), Seth, Mallori, and Jene’ (10)great-grandchildren: Rebekah, Marcus, Cadence, Reid, Braelyn, Henry, Grayson, Leo, Estella, and Quinn (4)brothers: Howard (Judie) Scherwinski of Butternut Dennis (Mary) Scherwinski of Jackson Glen (Joyce) Scherwinski of Butternut Rod (Marilyn) Scherwinski of Butternut his lifelong friend Bob Hamann of Butternut and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother and sister-in-law Eugene and Barbara Scherwinski, and his mother and father-in-law Melvin and Josephine Nelson. Funeral services will be held on Saturday October 26, 2019 at 11:00am from St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Butternut. Rev. John A. Deitz will officiate. Burial will follow at Butternut Union Cemetery with military honors under the auspices of the Butternut American Legion Post. A visitation will be held on Friday October 25, 2019 at the church from 4:00pm until 7:00pm and on Saturday from 9:00am until the hour of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Butternut or Flambeau Home Health & Hospice would be greatly appreciated.
