Jerome R. "Skip" Karshna Jr.

Jerome R. “Skip” Karshna Jr. found peace on July 3rd at the age of 86, surrounded by his wife and daughters. Skip was born on June 30th, 1935 to Florence and Jerome Karshna in Milwaukee. He attended Dover Street School and Bay View High School before proudly serving his country in the U.S. Navy as a Radio Operator on the LST-772 USS Ford County during the Korean War. After 4 years of service he attended UW Milwaukee to study Journalism. In 1960 he married the love of his life, Judi Livermore. Together they raised five daughters. He lived in Milwaukee while working for Rex Chain Belt, moved to Warren, PA to work for Rexnord Thomas Coupling Division, and later to Libertyville, IL as an Industrial Relations Coordinator for Outboard Marine Corporation in Waukegan. In 1980 he began his career as Human Resource Director at Flambeau Paper Mill in Park Falls, WI where he worked until his retirement. He was deeply devoted to his family and God. He loved spending time outdoors camping, fishing, kayaking, and traveling to parks throughout America. He enjoyed many hobbies including photography, woodworking, reading, writing, ham radio (WD9AEI), playing cards with his buddies, watching the Packers and Brewers and general tinkering. He was active in the Lions Club, Flambeau Hospital Board, VFW, American Legion, the Catholic Church and was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Jeanne (Jan) Huml. He is survived by his wife Judi; sister Deanna (Steve) Sitter, daughters Wendy (Ron) Rebne, Kerry Karshna, Kate Karshna and Kristiana Karshna; grandchildren Alexandra, Leah, Savannah, Francesca, Ezekiel and Ella; great-grandchildren Emerson and Evelyn and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Park Falls on Saturday September 11, 2021 at 12:00pm. Fr. Shaji Pazhukkathara will officiate. A visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 11:00am until the hour of the service. Interment will be held at Forest Home Cemetery in Fifield with military honors under the auspices of the Park Falls American Legion.
