Janice "Jan" Ocker

Janice “Jan” (Jonassen) Ocker passed away peacefully at home in Fifield on April 16, 2022 at the age of 79. Janice was a vivacious sparkly lady who deeply loved her family, friends, flowers, and birds. Janice was born in Elmwood Park – Chicago, IL on January 17, 1943 to parents Otto and Martha (Grimes) Jonassen. IN 1958 at the age of 16, Janice and her parents moved to Fifield and lived and owned and/operated 3-Mile Tavern (Otto’s Twin Pines) nestled in a forest of Balsam 3 miles west of Fifield. Jan attended Fifield High School and it was there she spied the love of her life, Gary, who had already graduated, but was refereeing basketball games. They married on February 25, 1961 in Fifield. Jan loved painting ceramics, cooking and baking, gardening and music. Jan loved to make meals for her family in addition to preparing large feeds for farm crews during the haying seasons over the years. Jan enjoyed cookouts at the park, fishing, camping, making wreaths, shopping, traveling (especially to Hawaii) and laughing. She loved holidays and birthdays and made sure there was always cake and ice cream for everyone. Jan always sent cards in the mail with special messages of hugs and kisses. Janice is preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Martha and great grandson Ezra Samson Kalade Marvel. Jan is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Gary Ocker and their four-legged fur baby Jade and 5 children, Toni (Brad) Champeau of Green Bay, Sandy Marvel (Chris) of Eau Claire, Jon (Suzy) Ocker of Fifield, Lisa Ocker of Tucson, AZ, and Judy Wibel of Eau Claire. Granchildren (15) Ben (Ping), Vinny and Amanda Champeau, Christopher (Iyabo) and Joseph (Malorey) Marvel, Emily (Chuck) Koshak, Jonathon (Austyn), Olivia and Ebbe Ocker, Isaac (Lynz), Ellen and Zachary Jordan, and Lucy and Madelyn Wibel. Great Grandchildren (4) Leona and Lilly Champeau, Marave Marvel and Lyna Jordan, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Visitation at 10 am on Friday, April 22, 2022 with funeral services following at Fifield Congregational Church at N13977 W.
