Duane "Wiener" G. Kempf

Duane “Wiener” G. Kempf age 88, of Glidden, died on Wednesday August 4, 2021, at Riverview Health Services in Tomahawk. He was born on March 27, 1933, in Glidden, the son of Arthur & Ellen Kempf. His early life and schooling were in Glidden. After Graduating from the Glidden High School he served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. On June 10, 1961 he married Blondell Wiendenhoeft from Butternut. The couple moved in Illinois where Duane worked for the Railroad as a section foreman. In 1996 the couple returned to Glidden. Duane was an active member of the Glidden VFW and American Legion Posts and a curator for the Glidden Museum. He enjoyed hunting, woodworking, and spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by (6)children: Allen (Michelle) Kempf of Jacksonville, FL, Rebecca (Robert) Butkus of Byron Center, MI, Arthur (Michelle) Kempf of Mundelein, IL, Robin Butkus of Cleveland, Ohio, Kenneth (Holly) Kempf of Rhinelander, and Roxanne (Randy) Feind of Oshkosh (14)grandchildren (8)great-grandchildren his sister Josephine “Jo” Sailors of Pinon Hills, California, his brother-in-law: James (Joann) Wiedenhoeft of Minocqua, and nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Blondell, his son Kevin, his son in-law David Butkus, his brothers: Stan, Larry, Dick, & Dallas, his brother-in-law Ray Sailor, and sister-in-law Judy Kempf. A Memorial Mass will be held at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church in Glidden on Saturday August 14, 2021 at 11:00am. Fr. Aloysius Anthony will officiate. Interment will follow at Most Precious Blood Catholic Cemetery with Military Rites under the auspices of the Glidden American Legion and VFW Posts. A visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 10:00am until the hour of the service.
