Daniel J. Brandt

Daniel J. Brandt age 91 of Pike Lake, died peacefully at his home on Friday June 23, 2023. He was born on December 30, 1931 in Chicago, IL, the son of Daniel and Loretta (Krause) Brandt. After high school he joined the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country for 11 years. He became a Master Carpenter with the union and worked for Olson Brothers Construction for most of his career. On February 8, 1964 he married the love of his life, Patricia Roberts. And together they raised six children. In 1993 the couple retired and moved to the Pike Lake area to be closer to their favorite fishing spot and honeymoon destination, Crane Lake, MN. Dan was a hard-working, family man who would help anyone in need. He enjoyed life and loved traveling in the RV, he was part of the crew of volunteers who restored the Round Lake Logging Dam. Dan was a proud original member of the Smashers Club of Chicago as a young man. He remained always faithful to the Chicago Cubs & Bears teams. He became a volunteer on the Pike Lake Fire Department after moving to the northwoods. He enjoyed overseeing the corn sales at Pike Lakes annual Funday. He worked for the Fifield City dump and was very proud of his Head Garbologist title. He always had a treat for all kids and dogs that visited him. Most of all he loved spending time with his family. He will be sorely missed by all those who knew and loved him. He is survived by (4)children; Danny (Linda) Brandt of Portage, Kathy (Derek) Milhousen of Park Falls, Patty (Kevin) Finlon of McHenry, IL, and Jimmy (Lisa) Brandt of Park Falls, (16)grandchildren, (12)great-grandchildren, and many cousins and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Carl Brandt, his sweetie-pie Patty, and (2)sons Freddy and Mike Brandt. Funeral Services will be held at the Birch Street Funeral Service Chapel in Park Falls on Friday July 7, 2023 at 11:00am. Rev. Terry Wilson will officiate. Burial will follow at Forest Home Cemetery in Fifield. Military honors under the auspices of the Fifield American Legion Post and the Park Falls American Legion Post will follow. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday July 7, 2023 from 10:00am until the hour of the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pike Lake Chain Firefighters, Inc.
