Thomas M. Meindl age 74, of Butternut, passed away on Friday February 4, 2022, at his home. He was born on December 11, 1947, in Butternut, the son of Joseph Meindl and Letha (Hill) Spear. He graduated from the Butternut High School in 1966. Tom was then drafted into the United States Army and was a radio teletype operator with the 101st Airborne in Vietnam. He lived in Milwaukee after the Army and worked at various jobs. He married Pat Jarumbo and had a son Tommy. She passed away shortly after. He moved back to Butternut and married Vivian Tesch and had two children. He worked at the Flambeau Paper Mill for 35 years until he retired. His biggest loves were his children, flea marketing, cats, casinos, crosswords, reading, Jen’s Café, and taking naps. He is survived by his daughter Sara Meindl of Wausau, his son Mike Meindl of Roanoke, Virginia, his sister Marcia “Muff” Skinner of Milwaukee, his “double” cousins: David (Crystal) Meindl of Butternut, Jean Meindl of Kentucky, and Marie (Rick) Jeske of Merrill, his uncle Archie (Sally) Hill of Glidden, and good friends Vivian and Charlie Tesch. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Tommy, his brother Joe, niece Jenny Skinner, sister-in-law Debbie Meindl and brother-in-law Russell Skinner. A celebration of life will be held at the Butternut American Legion Post on Saturday August 6, 2022 at 11:00am. Deacon Robert Schienebeck will officiate. Interment will follow with military honors at St. Cecelia Cemetery in Butternut. A visitation will be held at the Legion Hall on Saturday from 10:00am until the hour of the service.
