James Larry Kolar Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

James Larry Kolar -age 70, of Glidden WI passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home. He was born on August 6th, 1951 in Chicago IL, to Ervin and Harriet (Gaslitze) Kolar. Jim is survived by his son Terry (Renée) Kolar of Wausau, his sister Kathleen (Russell) Anderson of Marengo, IL, brother Daniel (Karen) Kolar of Austin, TX, as well as nieces and nephews, Eric Anderson, Roy (Tracey) Anderson and former wife Elizabeth Kolar. He is lovingly remembered by many family and friends as an honorable man with a very kind and gentle heart. He enjoyed spending time with his good friends of Glidden and especially attending steak frys at Spud’s Shack throughout the year. Jim’s favorite hobby, fishing, consumed many hours of his free time. In his younger years, he would trout and salmon fish on Lake Michigan, traveled to Key West Florida in search in the big one in addition to fishing many great inland lakes in Illinois, Wisconsin and Canada. Most notoriously though, he enjoyed fishing on Augustine Lake. Jim brought home with him great fishing stories and many, many fish. Jim was a handy guy and enjoyed inventing things to make his life easier and spent hours “Jimmy Rigging” everything. He was also very talented at creating custom fishing lures. Jim liked to craft a wide range of jigs and elaborate Muskie lures that caught several fish which gave him great pride. In the years on his land in Glidden, he watched over and befriended many wild animals and birds. Most of all, Jim loved having a good time and socializing, he was a man of many stories and good cheer. Everyone loved his company. He will be greatly missed but always remembered. In Lieu of flowers, you can make a donation to his son Terry Kolar for a personal memorial to be created at Marion Park in Glidden Wi.
