Gertrude Marie Keily

March 24, 1921 - September 10, 2014

Gertrude (Gertie) Keily, Age 93, formerly of Butternut, passed away on Sept. 20, 2014 at Park Manor Nursing Home in Park Falls. She was born March 24, 1921, in Glidden, the daughter of Joe B. and Amelia (Vogt) Eder. She grew up in Glidden attending elementary school at the Most Precious Blood School and received her secondary education at the Glidden Public School. On July 3, 1939, she married Allan (Duke) Keily in Butternut where together they raised six children in a loving, fun-filled home. She was a wife and homemaker. Gertie adored her family. She was such a kind, easy-going, wonderful mother and grandmother as well as an excellent cook and baker. Starting in her childhood, Gertie loved to tap dance and write and recite poetry which she continued to do until the end of her life. She was a faithful member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Butternut. She is survived by six children; Sharon Albright, of Fond du Lac; Kurt Keily, Porter, Texas; Pastor Ken Keily, Norman, Indiana; Pat (Barbara) Keily, Lynden, Washington; Shelley (Larry) Meverden, Butternut; and Kelly (Ken) Meverden of Monaca, Pennsylvania. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; Sean (Deborah) Keily; Lisa (Paul) Stiller; Tom (Stacey) Keily; Katie (Will) Vann; Michael (Trish) Keily; Chris Keily; and Ryan (Julia) Meverden. In addition, she is survived by six great-grandchildren; Hannah, Jack, Sofie, Sam, Jake and Mara; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Duke, and her siblings; Edward Eder; Rosella BeBeau; Josephine Eder; Elmer Eder; Charles (Jake) Eder; Florence Pankratz and Jeanette Laubenheimer. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Butternut with Pastor John Deitz officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service on Saturday at the church. Burial will be in the Butternut Union Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled for the family by Novitzke Funeral Home in Park Falls.
