Francis "Frank" J. Rein

Francis “Frank” J. Rein age 79 of Glidden died Monday December 27, 2021 at his home. He was born July 27, 1942 in Glidden, the son of Leo and Agatha (Tuchscherer) Rein. He went to school in Glidden, WI and joined the Navy before and during the Vietnam War at the tender age of 17. After serving his Navy tour , he enlisted for a tour in Vietnam with the Army. He also served in the Army National Guard for 8 years. Although at times horrible, he looked back at his time in the service with fondness and pride, speaking often of those he served with and lost. Frank traveled extensively in the military as well as in his career as an aircraft mechanic. Other than Glidden, his longest places of residence were near San Antonio, TX and in Anchorage, AK. Besides his passion for travel, he was an avid Packer fan. He enjoyed playing cards and sharing spirited debates and plenty of laughs with family and friends who he will be greatly missed by. He is survived by his son Rick (Tamara) Rein of Eau Claire, WI and daughter Hope (Keenan) Knight of Eau Claire; (3)grandchildren Julia, Joslyn, and Willow; (1)sister Madlyn Rein of Park Falls, WI (2)brothers Tom (Dolly) Rein of Marshfield, WI and Dan (Julene) Rein of San Antonio, TX former spouse Susette (LeDoux) Rein of Eau Claire, WI and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Charlie Rein. The family would like to thank relatives, friends, and caregivers who are too many to name for all the help and support throughout Frank's illness. In lieu of flowers Frank has requested that a donation be made to the Wounded Warrior Project (woundedwarriorproject.org). A VFW Memorial Service will be announced at a later date and a marker will be placed at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
