Donald Thomas “Canada” Eder age 76, of Clam Lake, died on Friday October 7, 2016 at his home. He was born on February 29, 1940 in Glidden, the son of Thomas and Harriet (Iverson) Eder. His early life and schooling were in Glidden. Donald was a veteran of the United States Navy serving from 1959 until 1963 during the Cuban Missile Crisis on the USS Fulton. On December 5, 1981 he married Jane Dobberpuhl in Milwaukee. Donald was a logger, a member of the Glidden VFW Post and the Blazing Stump Gang. He enjoyed his daily coffee at the Elkhorn and Chippewa Tavern, reading Westerns, working on his firewood, and playing practical jokes. He is survived by: his wife Jane of Clam Lake (8)children: Lori (Mikey) Eder of Oceanside, California Brian (Joyce) Eder of Washington State LeAnn (Wayne) Capron of Imperial Beach, California Jill (Scott) Markee of Superior Thomas (Nilu) Eder of Bloomington, Minnesota Jaclyn (Tony) Fiecke of Richardton, North Dakota Tamra (Andy) Melcher of Eagan, Minnesota Joel (Skyler) Eder of Park Falls (14)grandchildren (2)sisters: Jeanne (Jerry) Holden of New Berlin Joni (Kurt) Milach of New Berlin He was preceded in death by his parents, his infant brother Leonard and his niece Michelle Holden. A memorial service will be held on Saturday October 22, 2016 at 11:00am from Trinity Lutheran Church in Glidden. Rev. Jacob Stuenkel will officiate. Military rites under the auspices of the Glidden VFW Post will follow the service. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday at the church from 10:00am until the hour of the service. Interment will take place at the Clam Lake Cemetery.
