Patrick James Kelly

Patrick James Kelly Age 80, of Butternut, died on Monday February 8, 2021 at his home. Patrick was born on July 5, 1940 in Waukegan, IL, the son of Francis James and Florence Nedra (Tordoff) Kelly. His early life was spent in Waukegan with his family and Friends. Patrick graduated from Waukegan Township Highschool in 1958. After graduating high school, he attended West Point Military serving the Army on a well-earned wrestling scholarship. Patrick’s passion as a young man was wrestling, to the point of qualifying for the Olympics. He traveled to South Korea and India and competed in the Greco- Roman Olympics earning metals to bring home to the USA. He attended White Water College to further his life’s passion for studying. He took interest in reading and held a large collection of books of history and places of the world. He loved to travel and meet people and was always interested in finding new adventures. Pat held various jobs as he followed this road of life. Working with his brothers in Florida enjoying the sunny days, never lead to a dull moment. After Pat retired, he found his place in the Northwoods of Wisconsin. There he found his true calling; he had a heart to share his life’s journey and council many through their life’s struggles. He would travel many miles to be with those in need of help and worked with the AA Program’s in several towns and prisons. He will be remembered in the lives of many for having the compassion, patience, and love to help those in need. Pat also enjoyed the game of chess, sharing many hours with friends and family teaching patiently and then challenging the skills of each competitor. Spending time talking about life with his loving companion Janice brought the peace and beauty that made him complete. Life is a wonderful experience when you find someone as precious as Janice to share it with, and that will forever be missed. He is survived by: His soulmate, Janice M. Mitchell of Butternut (2)brothers: Mike (Jerry) Kelly of Largo, Florida Fred (Priscilla) Rogerson of Florida (1)sister: Frances Magee of Rudolph, WI. And many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Frank & Florence Kelly, brother Harry Rogerson, brother in law Bob Magee, nephew Andrew LaBarge A memorial service will be held at the Birch Street Funeral Service Chapel in Park Falls on Saturday February 20, 2021 at 11:00am. Patrick’s niece Pastor Lori Hintz will officiate. Military honors will follow under the auspices of the Park Falls American Legion Post.
