Mary & Guy Hoffman

“Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.” An incredible love story ended its time on earth as Mary Ellen passed away on February 18, 2022, and Guy on July 16, 2022. Guy Anthony Hoffman was born August 27, 1937. Mary Ellen Hoffman (Riley) was born July 15, 1938. Both Guy and Mary Ellen were born and raised in Park Falls, WI. The story of their love began back in their days at St. Anthony’s in Park Falls, where they met in 1st grade. They didn’t officially go on a date until high school when Mary Ellen asked Guy out to the Sadie Hawkins dance. Later they would wind up on prom court together before graduating Lincoln High School in 1956. Shortly after high school they were married on July 25, 1959. Together, they created a beautiful family that was centered on the love for their children: Sharon (Rob) Peck, Paul (Dian), Dave (Norma), Tom (Pam), and Mary Kay (Jason Koenigsberger). From there, the legacy expanded to their grandchildren: Emily, Andy, Alex, Charisse, Keith, Monica, Paulina, Rachel, Kristy, Jimmy, Katherine, and Dean. They also had 18 great-grandchildren. They were both so cherished by the people who loved them. A highlight of their marriage was buying a slice of heaven on the South Fork of the Flambeau River where they spent years building a cabin that would be the hub of many family gatherings. They spent many years of their retirement sitting on the deck, enjoying beverages, grilling food, and watching the water float by. If those cabins walls could talk, oh the stories they could tell of so much love and laughter, as their doors were open to anyone who ever wanted to visit. Guy and Mary Ellen’s love created a legacy that will live on through those who loved them most. They are survived by their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. They are also survived by their siblings Fran (Bruce) Cameron, Mike (Janet) Riley, Mark (Lenore) Hoffman, Dan (Sally) Hoffman, and Ann Hoffman. They are both further survived by countless family and friends. They are proceeded in death by their parents: Ray and Katherine Hoffman, James and Evelyn Riley and their siblings: Bob Riley, Joel Hoffman, and John Hoffman. The family is hosting a burial at Nola Cemetery in Park Falls, Wisconsin on October 15, 2022, at 11:30 AM.
