Hattie B. Weinberger

Hattie Barbara Weinberger, age 88, of Park Falls, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, with her loving family by her side. Hattie was born on March 8, 1938, in the Town of Eisenstein, the daughter of Frank and Frances (Kronberger) Kundinger. She attended Woodland Echo Elementary School, St. Anthony’s Catholic School, and graduated from Park Falls Lincoln High School. On June 29, 1957, Hattie married Bernard Weinberger at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Park Falls. Together, they began a life of love, family, faith, and farming. For 50 years, Hattie was the heart of the Weinberger family farm. She was a true farm wife in every sense of the word. She worked side by side with Bernie through the early mornings, long days, busy seasons, and all the hard work that came with farm life. She drove tractor, cared for the animals, worked in the fields, helped with the hay, kept the books, and took care of the countless responsibilities that kept the farm and family moving forward. Hattie was a woman of incredible strength and determination who gave herself wholeheartedly to her family and the farm she loved. She worked hard, never complained, and gave everything she had to her family and their farm. Together, Hattie and Bernie built more than a farm—they built a home, a family, and a way of life that will be remembered for generations. And when the workday was done, Hattie continued caring for the people she loved. She was famous for her homemade donuts and dougheon, as well as her cinnamon rolls, homemade bread, amazing beef roasts, fruit cake, and bipple buns. Her kitchen was often as busy as the farm, and her food was one of the many ways she showed her love. The meals she prepared, the baked goods she shared, and the traditions she created became treasured memories for her family. Hattie served as the Town of Chippewa Treasurer from April 1979 until September 2009. She taught CCD classes for many years at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Butternut and enjoyed singing in the cluster choir. Her faith, hard work, and devotion to her family were the foundation of her life. Hattie’s greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved spending time with her family, playing cards, and watching the generations of her family grow. She was especially proud of her near-perfect penmanship and will be remembered for her strong work ethic, generous heart, deep faith, wonderful cooking, and unwavering love. Hattie is survived by her four daughters, Susan (Daniel) Lannigan of Fifield, Deborah (Mark) Fravert of Weston, Sharon (Kenneth) Walker of Butternut, and Ann (Brian) Schmidt of Green Bay; nine grandchildren, Beth Lannigan, Garrett Fravert, Claire Nerenz, Jackie Kundinger, Denise Bablick, Stephanie Schultz, Jonathan Schmidt, Emily Roth, and Ellen Hetzer; and fourteen great-grandchildren, Greta, Lucy, Amelia, Autumn, Adison, Gabrielle, Kamden, Michael, Holly, Farrah, Clara, Hayden, Asher, and Leia. She is also survived by her siblings, George A. Kundinger of Park Falls, Joseph D. (Rita) Kundinger of Park Falls, Florence Zalatoris of Kenosha, and Teckla Miller of California, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Hattie was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard; her parents, Frank and Frances Kundinger; her grandson, Matt Lannigan; her siblings, Sr. Irene Kundinger, Rudolph Kundinger, Peter Kundinger, Alice Kempen, Rose Ann Weinberger, and Frances Thwing; and her special sister-in-law, Jane Kundinger. Hattie leaves behind a legacy built on faith, family, hard work, and love. She was a farm wife, a homemaker, a mother, a grandmother, and the heart of the family she and Bernie built together. The lessons she taught, the work ethic she lived by, the traditions she created, and the love she gave so freely will continue through the generations who follow her. She will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the traditions she passed down, in the recipes that will continue to be made, and in the hearts of all those who were lucky enough to call her wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. A Funeral Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Butternut on Friday, July 24, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Fr. Raja Birusu and Deacon Robert Schienebeck will co-officiate. Burial will follow at St. Cecilia Catholic Cemetery in Butternut. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
