Cecelia Catherine Fenzl

Cecelia Catherine Fenzl, 72, of Park Falls, peacefully passed away at home Saturday, July 22, 2017. She was born in Tomah, Wisconsin on February 14, 1945 to Charles and Cecelia (Ramer) Kerska. Cecelia was the youngest of five children and spent her childhood on her family’s dairy farm in rural Monroe County. She was a member of Tomah High School graduating class of 1963. She followed her sister’s footsteps and attended St Joseph School of Nursing in Marshfield where she graduated in 1966. Nearly 50 years ago to the date, on July 29, 1967, she married James Fenzl at St Mary Catholic Church in Tomah. Together, they resided and raised a family in Park Falls. Cecelia started work as a Registered Nurse at then Park Falls Memorial Hospital in 1967, retiring in 2011 after 44 years of service from the current Flambeau Hospital. Ceily, as she was known to most coworkers, worked both as a floor RN as well as an obstetrical nurse assisting with many deliveries throughout her career. She was a founding member of the Flambeau Hospital “Sunshine” Club and Old Timer’s Club. In her leisure time, Cecelia enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cross-stitching, embroidering, quilting, reading novels and biographies, flower gardening, as well as having good conversation over coffee with neighbors, friends and family. She enjoyed spending time in the kitchen cooking, baking, and trying new recipes. Later in life, she became proud “Flambeau Grandma” to her 3 treasured grandsons. Cecelia is survived by her spouse, Jim, of Park Falls, children Ray, of Park Falls, and Carla (Joey) Karczewski, of Menomonee Falls , grandsons James, Thomas and William Karczewski; Sister-in-Law Pauline Fenzl of Park Falls, Brothers-in-Law Robert Kline of Tomah, Robert Fenzl, O Praem of DePere, Lawrence Fenzl of Park Falls, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, coworkers, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Agnes Kline, brothers, Loren and Frank, brother and sister-in-law Eugene and Genevieve Kerska, and brothers-in-Law and sister-in-law Edward and Dorothy Schwartz and Sister-in-law Mary Kramer, brother-in--law William Fenzl. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday July 27, 2017 at 11:00 am at St Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Park Falls . Fr. Shaji Pazhukkathara will officiate. Visitation will be on Thursday July 27, 2017 at 10:00 am until hour of service at the church. Interment will follow at Nola Cemetery, in Park Falls, luncheon at Padua Center will follow; all are welcome. The family would especially like to thank Dr. Arlene Gayle and staff of Marshfield Clinic Oncology and the staff of Flambeau Hospital and Marshfield Clinic Park Falls Center for their constant, attentive treatment over the past 3 and a half years while Ceily quietly and bravely faced ovarian cancer.
